1. About this policy
iCentralCoast is operated by an Australian sole trader under the registered business name The Phoenix Digital (ABN 69 349 636 089). In this policy, iCentralCoast, we, us and our refer to the operator of https://icentralcoast.com (the Website).
This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information when you visit the Website, create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, contact us, search the directory, submit or claim a business listing or event, purchase a paid listing service, view embedded content or follow an affiliate link.
Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. Business information can also be personal information where it identifies a sole trader, owner, organiser, employee or other individual. Technical information and online identifiers may be personal information when they can reasonably be linked or matched to a person.
We handle personal information in accordance with this policy and applicable law. Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) apply to us or to particular processing, we comply with them. We aim to follow the practical standards in this policy even where a provision of the Privacy Act does not apply to a particular activity.
2. Information we collect and how we use it
The information we collect depends on how you use the Website and may include:
- Website, device and advertising information: IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device details, operating system, cookie and advertising identifiers, referring page, pages and advertisements viewed, links selected, search terms, dates and times, and interactions with the Website and embedded features. We use this to operate and secure the Website, understand its use, improve content and performance, measure advertising and affiliate referrals, prevent fraud, and support personalised advertising where permitted.
- Directory-search information: keywords, categories, suburbs, addresses or other locations entered in a search field, together with location suggestions or coordinates returned by a mapping provider. We use this to provide directory and map results. We do not seek your precise device location unless a feature asks for it and you grant permission.
- Account information: first name, last name, username, email address, password and account activity. We use this to create, authenticate, secure and administer accounts.
- Contact information: name, email address, message and other information you provide through a contact or advertising-enquiry form. We use this to respond and keep appropriate business records. A submission may be transmitted or stored through our Website, hosting and email systems.
- Newsletter information: email address, sign-up source and time, consent and subscription status, delivery, bounce, complaint and unsubscribe information, and information about email opens, clicks, device or email-client type and approximate location. We use this to operate and improve the newsletter, measure engagement and keep consent and suppression records.
- Business-listing and event information: account-holder details and submitted or publicly available information such as a business or event name, description, address, contact details, website and social links, category, opening hours, organiser or ticket link, images, offers and video links. We use this to review, verify, publish, update, administer and moderate directory content.
- Payment information: if you purchase a featured listing or another paid service, we receive contact and billing details, the service, amount, payment status, transaction or subscription identifiers, invoices and relevant correspondence. Stripe collects and processes payment-method information in its payment environment.
- Affiliate information: the page and link selected, referral or partner identifiers, and commission-attribution or performance information. Affiliate providers may also receive IP address, device, cookie and referral information when their technology loads or you follow an affiliate link.
- Privacy-request and complaint information: contact details, request or complaint details, identity-verification information where reasonably required, correspondence and outcome records.
We collect information directly from you, automatically through the Website and its technologies, from people acting for businesses or event organisers, from our service providers, and from publicly available business or event sources when we create or check a directory entry.
We may also use information to provide support, send service messages, comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, prevent misuse, establish or defend legal rights, or manage a genuine business transfer where permitted by applicable law. We may use aggregated or de-identified information where it no longer identifies an individual.
If you do not provide information required by a form, we may be unable to create an account, administer a listing or event, process a paid service, send the newsletter or respond to you. Where lawful and practicable, you may browse general Website content without identifying yourself.
Please do not place sensitive information in free-text fields or uploads unless it is necessary and you have been asked to provide it. If you provide another person’s information, you must be authorised to do so.
3. Public listings and events
Business listings and event submissions contain fields intended for publication. Some entries are created by business owners or organisers and others are created or checked by iCentralCoast using publicly available business or event information.
Published information may be found through search engines, shared or copied by other people, cached by third parties and accessed from outside Australia. Only submit a personal name, direct telephone number, personal email address, photograph or other personal information for publication if you have authority to do so and are comfortable with it being public.
Private account and administrative details are not intended to be published merely because you create an account. Information deliberately entered in a public listing or event field may be published. We may contact a business or organiser to verify information and may edit, refuse, archive or remove content in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
You can contact us to request correction of personal information in a listing. Removing information from our Website does not necessarily remove copies already indexed, cached or republished by an independent third party.
4. Service providers, cookies and embedded content
We use service providers to operate the Website. Some act on our instructions; others collect information directly and handle it under their own privacy terms.
- Website and hosting: the Website uses WordPress and related account, directory, invoicing, performance and security tools. SiteGround hosts the primary Website server in Australia. Hosting, backup, security, maintenance and email providers may process Website logs, accounts, submissions and correspondence.
- Google services: Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager help us understand Website use and manage Website tags. Google Maps and Places provide directory search and maps. YouTube supplies embedded videos, and reCAPTCHA protects forms from spam and automated misuse. These services may receive IP address, device, cookie, page, search and interaction information when they load or are used. See Google’s Privacy Policy and its explanation of how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Microsoft Clarity: Clarity provides behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replay to help us identify technical and usability issues. It may collect page, device, approximate location, click, scroll, mouse-movement and performance information. Session replay is a reconstruction of Website activity, not a camera recording. Microsoft states that privacy-sensitive form content is masked by default. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- MailerLite: MailerLite hosts newsletter forms, keeps the subscriber list and sends emails. Double opt-in is enabled. We use open and click tracking to measure delivery and engagement. MailerLite scripts may also receive ordinary browser, device, page and cookie information when a newsletter form or related script loads. See MailerLite’s Privacy Policy.
- Stripe: Stripe processes payments and supports transaction and subscription administration and fraud prevention. Stripe technology may receive ordinary network, browser, device and fraud-prevention information when it loads, including before a payment is completed. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Affiliate providers: some pages contain affiliate links. When an affiliate link or related measurement technology loads or is selected, the relevant provider may receive the page or link, referral identifier, IP address, browser and device details, and cookie information needed to recognise and measure the referral. The provider may pay us a commission if you complete a qualifying transaction. A purchase or booking is with the third party, not iCentralCoast. iCentralCoast participates in the Amazon Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. See the Amazon.com.au Privacy Notice.
- Consent and privacy choices: consentmanager supports advertising and privacy choices in locations where it is configured. It may process a consent identifier, the choice and date, country, language, browser, device, page URL, consent string, and IP address or IP-derived country or network information. The options displayed can depend on your location. A Mediavine advertising control does not necessarily control every analytics, affiliate, email, payment or embedded service.
The Website and its providers use cookies, local storage, pixels, tags and scripts to provide core functions, remember preferences, protect forms and accounts, provide maps and videos, measure use and email engagement, attribute affiliate referrals, and deliver and measure advertising. Some technologies operate when a page loads; others operate only when you use a feature.
If a privacy-choice interface or footer control is available in your location, you can use it to accept, reject or change the choices it offers. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser, although this may affect Website features. Rejecting personalised advertising does not necessarily remove advertising; you may still see non-personalised ads.
You may also email us to ask us to stop using or disclosing your personal information for direct marketing. We will action the request where required by law and explain any relevant provider controls. Advertising choices may be specific to a browser or device and may need to be repeated if cookies are cleared.
Mediavine technical components: our Mediavine integration may load supporting code from Mediavine or Grow domains even though iCentralCoast does not currently offer Grow reader accounts, favourites or saved-content features. When that code loads, Mediavine may receive ordinary network, browser and device, page or referrer, cookie and advertising-identifier information. Current details are available through Mediavine’s Legal & Privacy Center.
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.
Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:
- IP Address
- Operating System type
- Operating System version
- Device Type
- Language of the website
- Web browser type
- Email (in hashed form)
Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.
If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.
For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.
5. Newsletter and direct marketing
We send newsletters and other commercial electronic messages only where we have consent or are otherwise permitted by law. Marketing emails identify the sender, provide contact details and include a functional unsubscribe link.
You can unsubscribe at any time using that link or by emailing info@icentralcoast.com. We will action an unsubscribe request within five working days as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We may keep a limited suppression record so we do not add you back contrary to your choice.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent strictly factual, non-promotional messages reasonably necessary to administer an account, submission, payment, security issue or request.
6. Disclosure and overseas processing
We may disclose personal information to the providers described above, professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies and courts where reasonably necessary or required by law. We may also disclose it with your consent or direction, to protect a person’s safety or legal rights, or in connection with a genuine proposed or completed transfer of the Website or business, but only where permitted by applicable law. Wherever practicable, due-diligence information will be aggregated or de-identified.
Some providers are located outside Australia or use overseas personnel, companies, data centres or subprocessors. Based on the providers currently used, likely locations include the United States, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and other countries in the European Economic Area, as well as other countries used by Google, Microsoft, Stripe, MailerLite, Amazon, Mediavine and their current partners. Mediavine’s advertising-partner list can change and involve numerous locations. Public listings and events can also be accessed worldwide after publication.
Where APP 8 applies to an overseas disclosure, we take the reasonable steps required in the circumstances. Measures may include contractual privacy and security terms, recognised transfer arrangements and review of provider information. This notice does not treat general use of the Website as consent to remove protections that would otherwise apply under Australian law.
The Website is based in Australia and commercially directed to an Australian audience. Merely being accessible elsewhere does not necessarily make every foreign privacy law applicable. Where an overseas privacy law applies to particular processing, we provide the rights and protections that law requires.
7. Retention and security
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to operate and secure the Website, maintain appropriate business, consent and suppression records, resolve disputes, and meet legal, accounting and reporting obligations.
Retention varies by information type and provider. Account information may be kept while an account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Listings and events may remain while needed for our directory, editorial or record-keeping functions. Subscriber information is kept while you are subscribed, with limited suppression information retained after unsubscribing. Payment records are retained for applicable tax, accounting, fraud and dispute periods. Enquiries, complaints and privacy requests are retained for a reasonable period after resolution. Analytics, advertising and security information is retained according to our settings and provider practices.
When personal information is no longer required for a permitted purpose, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to applicable record-keeping laws. If immediate deletion from an isolated backup is not practicable, the information will remain secured and beyond ordinary use until that backup is overwritten or deleted through normal processes.
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps appropriate to the information to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These may include access controls, account authentication, updates, backups, secure connections and anti-spam and fraud controls. No online transmission or storage method is completely secure.
If a data breach occurs, we will investigate and take appropriate containment and response steps. Where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme or another law applies, we will assess and make notifications as required. This does not mean every security incident requires notification.
8. Access, correction, deletion and complaints
You may ask to access personal information we hold about you or correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. You may also ask us to delete information. Deletion is subject to applicable law, other people’s rights and legitimate operational and record-keeping needs; it is not an absolute right under Australian law.
Email info@icentralcoast.com with the subject Privacy request and enough detail for us to understand your request. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity or authority before giving access to non-public information. We will respond within a reasonable period and, where the Privacy Act applies, generally aim to respond within 30 calendar days.
If you believe we have mishandled personal information, email the same address with the subject Privacy complaint and explain what happened and the outcome you seek. We will review the matter and aim to provide an outcome or update within 30 days. If the Privacy Act applies and you are dissatisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. The OAIC ordinarily expects you to complain to the organisation first.
9. Children, external links and policy changes
The Website is a general-audience local information service and includes content that may be useful to families. It is not directed primarily to children, and we do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review the circumstances and take appropriate steps.
The Website links to third-party websites and services that we do not operate. Except where this policy says otherwise, we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their privacy information before providing personal or payment information.
We may update this policy when our practices, providers or legal obligations change. The current version will be posted on this page with a revised last-updated date. If a change is material, we may also provide another notice appropriate to the circumstances.
