Best Cafes and Restaurants in Terrigal

Terrigal has one of the busiest and best food scenes on the Central Coast. You can grab breakfast by the beach, stop for a long lunch, or book a table for dinner and cocktails.

I live locally, so I’ve eaten my way through the Esplanade many times. These are some of my personal picks if you’re looking for somewhere special to eat with friends or family. This list covers everything from casual cafés to woodfired pizza and modern Asian food.

Let me show you where to eat in Terrigal.

Terrigal Cafes

Luna is where I go for breakfast in Terrigal when I want something bolder than your usual eggs on toast. The menu mixes Middle Eastern and Asian flavours, and even the familiar dishes get a twist. I love the green garlic scramble with labneh and chilli oil. The hotcakes get plenty of love too, and Luna takes its coffee seriously.

What to order: Green garlic scramble, hotcakes or eggs benedict.

Freestate is a place I recommend when someone asks me where to get a good coffee in Terrigal. Coffee is a big deal here, and they serve ONA Coffee. It’s a casual cafe opposite Terrigal Beach, with outdoor tables and ocean views. The staff are friendly, the servings are generous and it’s usually buzzing in the morning.

What to order: Beef brisket toastie and a flat white.

Legend Coffee is tucked away in Pine Tree Lane, away from the busy Esplanade. I like coming here when I want a quieter coffee stop but still want to stay close to the beach. The menu is small and focused. You’ll find exceptional coffee, matcha, rolls and loaded toasties.

What to order: SAE Roll or Mush City Toastie.

Terrigal Restaurants

Once Again is my go-to for modern Asian food in Terrigal. It’s close to the beach and works well for dinner with friends or family. The menu is made for sharing. You’ll find dishes inspired by Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese flavours. The food is bold, fresh and nicely presented.

What to order: Kingfish ceviche, Kung Pao chicken and coconut rice.

Que Sera is a food and wine bar that Terrigal has been missing. You can stop in for wine and snacks or settle in for a full meal. The menu is small and made for sharing. I love coming here for a long lunch with friends. It feels special without being too formal.

What to order: Mussel escabeche, crispy potato and Wagyu beef skewer.

Rhonda’s is the place I pick when you want proper woodfired pizza and pasta in Terrigal. It’s lively, fun and close to the beach, so it works well for dinner after a day out.

What to order: Sicilian olives, nduja and prawn pizza, or crispy Nutella ravioli.

Coco is my pick when I feel like Asian food and want to share a few dishes. The menu mixes Japanese, Korean and Sri Lankan flavours, with dumplings, yakitori and larger plates for two. The Szechuan fried cauliflower is a standout, packed with flavour and a good kick of chilli.

What to order: Szechuan fried cauliflower and duck and cashew spring rolls.

The Tropic is where I go when the view matters as much as the food. It sits right on the water at Terrigal Haven, with big coastal views and a polished but relaxed dining room.

What to order: Puffed spiced bread with pumpkin hummus or steak frites.

Four Hands is a relaxed tapas and pizza restaurant just back from the Terrigal Esplanade. The menu is made for sharing, so it works particularly well for dinner with friends. Four Hands also runs a two-hour bottomless lunch from Friday to Sunday.

What to order: Lemon squid, pork belly pizza or sticky date pudding.

Little Miss is one of my picks for a special dinner in Terrigal. The small plates are where Little Miss really stands out. There’s a strong Mediterranean influence, with plenty of seafood, vegetables and bold flavours.

What to order: Grilled squid, crispy cauliflower and pan-fried bread.

Arc. Est is a good pick when you want a more traditional restaurant experience in Terrigal where you can settle in for two or three courses. The menu covers plenty of ground, from seafood and pasta to steak and pork ribs. I love the sticky date pudding so I always leave room for dessert.

What to order: Mushroom arancini, prawn linguine and sticky date pudding.

Swells is where I go when I want a special lunch with a view across Terrigal Beach. The food is modern and beautifully presented, with plenty of seafood on the menu. Portions are generous, so you won’t leave hungry. If the weather’s good, try to book a table near the balcony.

What to order: Crispy pork belly with prawn dumplings

Señor Habibi’s is one of the more memorable dinner spots in Terrigal. The room feels warm and moody, and the Middle Eastern menu is made for sharing. I love the bold flavours and generous use of spice. It’s also a fun night out, especially when the belly dancing is on.

What to order: Lamb shoulder, baba ganoush and smashed baklava.
