Little Beach is a secluded cove with a sandy shoreline and rocky headland in Bouddi National Park on the Central Coast.
People love camping here because it feels remote, but it’s also great for a relaxing family day out. To reach the beach, you walk 750 metres along a bush track. The walk is easy enough for young kids.
Visitors come here to:
- Have picnics and relax
- Camp
- Fish
- Surf
- Bushwalk
This beach is one of our favourite places for weekend barbecues and relaxing. Years ago, we would push the pram along the trail. Now our kids are older and walk with us. It’s still just as lovely as ever.
Walking to Little Beach

There are two ways to get to Little Beach: a bush track and a fire trail. These paths join together about halfway.
I suggest taking the walking track. It’s the nicer option, with a lovely patch of rainforest and a small bridge to cross.
A pretty little creek runs under the bridge on its way to the beach. Kids usually love jumping over it once they arrive.
If you have a pram with big wheels, it’s easy to push along the track.
Little Beach

Little Beach is a great place for a picnic and exploring the rocks.
Kids enjoy jumping over the stream and walking on the rocks along the shore. There are plenty of spots and rock pools to discover.
Even though it’s a beach, I haven’t seen many people swimming here. This might be because it’s rocky and there are no lifeguards.
If you want to go bushwalking, try the Bouddi Coastal Walk, which passes through the cove. I recommend heading south to Maitland Bay, about 3.5 km away.
Camping at Little Beach

There’s also a great campground that feels quite remote.
There are six tent-only, unpowered sites beside the beach, and no running water. You’ll need to carry your gear, food, and water along the walking trail, but you can use a wheelbarrow.
Booking is essential, especially in summer when it gets busy, so try to reserve early.
Site number 1 is the best, with an elevated view over the ocean and a bit more privacy. Sites 2 to 6 are on the field behind the beach, with numbers 2 and 3 at the back.
Facilities include rubbish and recycling bins, non-flush toilets, a barbecue, and a picnic table.
Bring your fishing rods and surfboards. Because it’s a bit of a walk from the road, the surf is rarely crowded. There are some nice small waves off the point that sometimes attract surfers.
A site for 2 people costs about $35 per night. You can book through the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
